The Fort Valley State University National Alumni Association, Inc. Mourns the Passing of Dr. Romelda Simmons

It is with profound sorrow that the Fort Valley State University National Alumni Association, Inc. acknowledges the passing of Dr. Romelda Simmons, who transitioned peacefully around 6:00 AM this morning, June 15, 2025.

Dr. Simmons was a beloved figure in the Wildcat family—a dedicated educator, mentor, and unwavering champion for students. Her impact was far-reaching, and her legacy of service and excellence will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched.

At the request of her family, I am sharing this news publicly as we collectively grieve and honor her memory. Dr. Simmons was more than a colleague; to many, she was family. Those who knew us, knew our bond was close—and while this loss is deeply personal, I find peace in knowing that she now rests.
